Hello all,
LABOUR SHORTAGES – A MAJOR CHALLENGE We have been talking about the challenges posed by labour shortages for several months. Two weeks ago, this issue was the subject of the National Workforce Strategy tabled by the Government of Québec. It proposed several solutions to the challenges of the aerospace workforce, including: - The possibility for educational institutions to offer training in highly sought-after sectors even if the minimum enrolment quota is below the targeted norms. - Salary financing for employees who take eligible training. - The new tax credit for companies who take on university-level interns. This will be a significant incentive for companies.
In addition, Aéro Montréal has launched a national careers promotion campaign called Rise to the Future in partnership with the CAMAQ, ÉNA, ÉMAM and industry partners. This campaign has already received extensive coverage in the media and on social networks. I encourage each of our members who are facing recruitment challenges to use visuals from this campaign to spread the word. To do so, contact Gary Bergès-Clermont. Finally, on June 12 we will unveil our 4.0 Skills Guide in Aerospace at a special event hosted by Norton Rose Fulbright, our partner. During the morning, you will also be presented with the National Workforce Strategy. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about tomorrow's challenges in aerospace recruitment.
AÉRO MONTRÉAL ATTENDED THE CANSEC TRADESHOW IN OTTAWA ON MAY 30 AND 31 During the two-day show we met some 20 companies and representatives from the government and associations, prime contractors and local and international suppliers. In particular, we took advantage of these meetings to present the SDQuébec defence security portal (www.sdquebec.ca), a collaborative tool facilitating business development in the defence sector. We also discussed Aéro Montréal’s positioning as a partner for certain projects related to key industrial capabilities and the value proposition for acquisition projects.

This day will also be an opportunity to educate the general public about careers in aerospace. Several conferences will also be organized for industry professionals. More information will be available on the event’s website in the coming days.
