Hello everyone,
On behalf of the members of our Board of Directors and our team, I’d like to wish you all a very happy new year!
I look back on 2016 with great pride and am now looking forward to 2017 with tremendous optimism. During the last 10 years, we have taken concrete actions to support companies, particularly SMEs, in their development. We have worked with the various levels of government to ensure that all companies in our sector have access to effective support in terms of training, productivity improvement and innovation.
2017 will mark an important milestone in the development process of aerospace companies in all sectors. This is why we will be holding Montréal International Aerospace Week from April 3-7, enabling you to take stock of the progress being made by our industry. In particular, we will see how the shift to industry 4.0 is having an increasingly tangible impact across the entire supply chain. Our role will be to accompany you in this transition by offering supplier development programs focused on digitization (the MACH Initiative and MACH Fab 4.0); targeted meetings with leading players (Aéromart Montréal – April 5 and 6); high-calibre conferences and technology demonstrations (Global Supply Chain Summit – April 4); a Defence seminar (April 3); and many other activities.
Keep in mind that throughout the year we will also be holding meetings for sharing best business practices during which several companies will present their development process. The first meeting will take place at the end of January with Nétur. More details about this event will be sent to you within the next few days.
I passionately believe in the potential of our industry. I recognize the difficulties you are experiencing and the challenges you face on a daily basis. We operate in an ultra competitive industry that forces us to innovate to keep our companies among the best in the world. Complying with standards is no longer enough: we have to exceeds them and offer even more innovative solutions. Our role is to encourage you in these efforts, such as through the implementation of the second phase of the greener aircraft mobilizing project (SA²GE). In this regard, researchers from Québec universities and research centres are invited to offer their involvement or expertise by making submissions before the January 16 deadline. Another date for companies will be communicated shortly.
Again, I wish you a year filled with success and wonderful projects! I also hope we can maintain our strong cohesion, which is our competitive advantage. Please continue to get involved in our working groups, send us your ideas, give us your news, or ask for our help. We are working for you and with you!
