The SAIB was first presented in 1953 and since then, it has built an excellent reputation for itself throughout North America. It has distinguished itself on a number of occasions at the International Council of Air Shows (ICAS), the authority on air shows in North America, by winning many awards for its promotion and marketing.
No effort is spared to make this event a great aviation show. Three of the biggest Canadian air demonstration teams take part in it: the F-18 demonstration aircraft, the Snowbirds and the Sky Hawks.
The SAIB is undoubtedly the single greatest family activity in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. It is held every two years (in odd years, formerly in alternation with the Quebec City air show) and attracts over 100,000 people each time. Access to the show site has been free since 2013.
In addition to offering breathtaking aerial displays, the SAIB has given the population an opportunity to discover CFB Bagotville’s facilities and services for more than 64 years through a large ground display. Thousands of visitors can also see and visit dozens of aircraft from several different countries.
The SAIB is constantly evolving in order to present an increasingly greater number of military and civilian aircraft as well as Canadian Forces vehicles.
