Hello all,
I want to take advantage of this last newsletter of 2017 to wish you all a wonderful holiday season! Many thanks to everyone who is actively participating in our working groups for the benefit of the entire industry. All our members are invited to join our working groups to help tackle the challenges facing our industry. Our ecosystem’s strength stems from its tremendous collaboration so don’t hesitate to contact us and get involved! In 2017, issues related to the labour shortage in aerospace were often at the centre of our concerns. We took several actions and held discussions with the government to develop solutions aimed at providing you access to an appropriate labour pool. Thank you to everyone for your support. In 2018, we will continue to focus on this challenge, which is so essential to your development. Here is some news from our working groups:

DEFENCE AND NATIONAL SECURITY WORKING GROUP
A FIRST IN QUÉBEC’S DEFENCE INDUSTRY The final version of the Sécurité Défense Québec Portal is online. The portal (developed by Aéro Montréal, Sous-traitance industrielle Québec and Québec International, and financed by the MESI) is a web-based tool that lists the industrial capabilities of Québec companies in the areas of defence and security. This tool gathers business information related to the aerospace, naval, land, C4ISR, cybersecurity, and security sectors. An excellent reference tool, SDQuébec is above all a one-stop shop where key players from Québec, Canada and abroad will be able to connect and generate business opportunities for Québec companies. This bilingual tool is now online in its final version and accessible to all. There is also a version for tablets and smart phones. Click here to access the portal.
REPLACEMENT OF CANADA’S FIGHTER JET FLEET Join our committee and optimize your involvement in the process! On December 12, 2017, the Government of Canada launched an open and transparent competitive procurement process to permanently replace Canada’s current fleet of fighter jets with 88 advanced aircraft. The Industrial and Technological Benefits Policy will be applied to this procurement. The objective of the policy is to maximize opportunities for Canadian companies, support innovation through research and development, and grow export opportunities from Canada. Aéro Montréal is setting up a committee to help Québec’s aerospace industry better position itself and prepare itself to obtain its share of the project. The committee will monitor project developments and draft an action plan. The committee will monitor, among other things, Future Fighter Industry Day on January 22, 2018 in Ottawa. Aéro Montréal will also be able to organize B2B events to give Québec companies better visibility. For more details, click here.
HUMAN RESOURCES WORKING GROUP
ESTABLISHMENT OF THE REGROUPEMENT RELEVE Aéro Montréal’s Regroupement Relève (RRAM) brings together students, recent graduates and professionals from the aerospace sector. In 2018, the Regroupement will organize eight major events to rally individuals around the aerospace theme. These include 5@7 Networking, Conferences/Debates, Lunch-Conferences, Specialized Seminars, and Speed-recruiting open to all, at a very affordable rate.
