PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello all,

BOMBARDIER BOEING DISPUTE
Aéro Montréal calls for a quick resolution between Bombardier and Boeing, Québec’s aerospace cluster reacts to the US Department of Commerce decision, click here.

Our members are hard at work in our various working groups! Here are some of the highlights of important activities and projects they are offering you in the coming weeks. Get involved to obtain information first-hand!

Defence and National Security Working Group
We are currently working for the benefit of each of our members to develop a new portal dedicated to Québec’s defence and security companies. This will enable us to inform prime contractors, equipment manufacturers and SMEs about the industrial and R&D capabilities of companies operating in the aerospace, land, naval or C4ISR/Cybersecurity sectors.
This portal will be officially launched at the following event:
2017 SYMPOSIUM ON DEFENCE AND SECURITY – Monday, October 23 (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
Final program now available - Consult the list of OEMs and government agencies attending!
This year’s Symposium will focus on Québec’s industrial capabilities in the defence sector and will be held on Monday, October 23 at the Hotel Mortagne in Boucherville. The one-day event will feature workshops on diverse topics such as cybersecurity, maintenance and repair, and how to do business in the defence sector. It will also include meetings with key players in this market. B2B meetings with OEMs will also be offered.
Register now. See the final program.
Also as part of the Defence and National Security Working Group activities, Aéro Montréal is organizing a VISIT OF THE 202nd WORKSHOP DEPOT, November 6, 2017 (9:30 am - 11:30 am)
The 202nd Workshop Depot is an integral part of the Canadian Armed Forces military base located in Longue-Pointe in Montréal East. The mission of the 202nd Workshop Depot is to provide competitive and diverse maintenance services for land-based weapon systems that meet the needs of the Canadian Forces.
Space is limited. Contact us for more information.

Growth Working Group
The Growth Working Group (formerly the Market Development – SMEs Working Group) is this month offering you two events as part of its SME Action Series. Don’t miss them!
5@7 DISCOVERY AEROSPACE SME AT AV&R – Thursday, October 5 (5 p.m. - 7 p.m.)
AV&R is the world’s largest aerospace engineering firm specializing in robotic engine parts for aircraft engines.
AN EXCEPTIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR NETWORKING AND SHARING BEST PRACTICES:
During the visit to its offices in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, AV&R will share its experience as a Québec SME that has developed and implemented a successful international development strategy in the last few years. This visit will feature a demonstration of an AV&R robotic system and close with a cocktail.

EXPORT LAB–INDISPENSABLE FOR AEROSPACE SMES-Tuesday, October 17 (1:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.)
Aéro Montréal and Export Development Canada are pleased to invite you to the first-ever export laboratory developed exclusively for the aerospace community.
By participating in this dynamic and interactive event, you will have the opportunity to interact with experts and entrepreneurs like yourself and discuss the challenges your company faces, how to deal quickly with changes in your industry, how to penetrate important key markets, and how to succeed internationally as a small business.

Human Resources Working Group
Aéro Montréal is organizing, in collaboration with Montréal International, the first AEROSPACE TALENT ATTRACTION MISSION IN TOULOUSE (France) from October 9th to 13th.
This mission is centred around a job fair organized by the Association pour l’emploi des cadres (APEC) where participating companies (Latécoère, P3 Group, Meloche Group, Sonaca and Altitude Aerospace) will be able to meet and recruit skilled workers within an area dedicated to Québec.
This industry mobilization will help to underscore Québec’s openness to attract more talent and meet companies’ growing labour needs, especially SMEs.

NEW INTERNSHIP PROGRAM MANAGED BY THE CANADIAN COUNCIL FOR AVIATION & AEROSPACE (CCAA)
Aerospace companies now have access to a new federal internship program called the Student Work Integrated Learning Program designed for post-secondary students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and trade.
Click here for all the details.

WOMEN IN AEROSPACE (WIA) ANNUAL NETWORKING MEETING A MAJOR SUCCESS
The WIA Annual Networking Meeting was held yesterday at the Country Club Montréal. The event brought together over 60 influential women and men from Québec’s aerospace industry. The evening provided an opportunity to acknowledge the significant contribution that Hélène Séguinotte has made to the aerospace cluster by sitting on its board of directors for 10 years! In addition, Merling Sapene gave a very interesting lecture on managing change during an integration journey relating to the challenges posed by immigration.
