Hello all,
EXCELLENT BREAKING NEWS! The “MOST 21” innovation supercluster in aerospace and transportation is one of the nine superclusters shortlisted for the federal government’s second phase of selection, and we are very pleased at Aéro Montréal! The announcement was made yesterday by the Honourable Navdeep Baines, federal Minister of Innovation, Sciences and Economic Development. See our press release.
BOMBARDIER/BOEING FILE Over the past few weeks, media coverage of the Bombardier-Boeing issue has grabbed the public’s attention. Some of our members, particularly the academic community, have expressed concern that this coverage could send a negative message to youth about career prospects in aerospace. As a result, Aéro Montréal is working with our partners to rebalance the messages being conveyed. We all know that our sector remains attractive for the next generation: according to CAMAQ, more than 31,000 positions will have to be filled within 10 years in Québec alone. In addition to our communication efforts with the media, our Branding and Promotion Working Group has established a subcommittee to develop a campaign to promote our industry through a youth-oriented approach. This initiative is mobilizing all stakeholders. We are preparing a plan that will highlight the attractiveness our industry and encourage young people to choose aerospace courses at all levels. We believe it is important that we work together to retain our position as a world-class performing cluster. Continue to be involved with us to showcase our industry and our achievements which are so promising for the future and create wealth for the economy! REMINDER – MACH INITIATIVE – RECRUITMENT OF THE 5th COHORT ENDS IN TWO DAYS! Nominations for enrolling companies in the MACH Initiative is underway and will end this Friday, October 13th. Nine suppliers will be selected following this call for candidates. If you want to enroll your company in an internationally-renowned supplier recognition program, now is the time to do it! To help you better understand what this feature of the MACH Initiative involves and to guide you in your search for a sponsor, Aéro Montréal invites representatives of Québec aerospace manufacturing companies who wish to join the Initiative or act as a sponsor to contact one of the program’s managers: Martin Hamel, Luc Chénier or Mathieu Cléroux. All the details are available here.
