PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello everyone,
Developing and supporting our SMEs are among Aéro Montréal’s top priorities. Accordingly, we take part in strategic meetings between your representatives and members of various levels of government. These high-level meetings allow us to share the aerospace industry’s challenges and opportunities. We believe it is important to make our voice heard to defend the interests of our members. As you can see, significant opportunities recently emerged in this regard.

Aéro Montréal welcomes Ms. Mary Gregory, Director General, Aerospace, Defence and Marine Branch of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada
At Aéro Montréal’s last Board of Directors meeting, Ms. Gregory gave an overview of Canada's Innovation Program designed to make Canada a world leader in innovation. After 30 consultations, the three key elements that were selected by the federal government are: Talent, Business Growth and Personnal Growth, and Emerging Technologies. You can submit your “innovative idea” by clicking here.

Meeting with Mr. François Blais, Minister of Employment and Social Solidarity and Minister responsible for the Capitale-Nationale region
As part of consultations organized by Emploi Québec in preparation of the Rendez-vous sur l’Emploi that will be held this fall, and as a member of the Conseil Emploi Métropole, we met with Minister François Blais as well as several partners. We discussed issues related to employment such as succession, talent and the development of future skills. This meeting took place as Aéro Montréal was finishing up the production of a White Paper entitled “Powering the talents of aerospace for Industry 4.0.” Its recommendations were very useful for supporting our discussions with the minister. The White Paper will be available on our website by next month.

Major events to come in the defence sector
Finally, in the defence sector, many events related to the Industrial and Technological Benefits Program (ITB) will be held in the coming weeks. Several of the companies bidding for major defence programs are organizing events in Montréal and Ottawa to identify Québec partners who will help them meet their commitments. We invite you to contact Sylvain Lefrancois at 514 627-2373 or by email at sylvain.lefrancois@aeroMontréal.ca for more details and to express your interest in participating in these events.

Launch of Phase 2 of the SA2GE project
On October 6, the Québec government gave the go-ahead to the launch of the second phase of the SA2GE greener aircraft mobilizing project. Five projects were selected. By March 2020, Bombardier, CAE, Esterline CMC Electronics, TeraXion and Thales Canada will carry out strategic initiatives for Québec's aerospace industry. See the press release.

Parcours Innovation PME Montréal
The City of Montréal has launched a project, Parcours Innovation PME Montréal, which aims to promote innovation in SMEs located on the island of Montréal. The first two editions of Parcours each included 30 SMEs. In 2017, 40 SMEs will be selected to be part of the initiative which is financially supported by the City. Don’t miss out on this opportunity, apply now!

Canadian Aerospace Summit
The 2016 Canadian Aerospace Summit offers you a privileged access to the Canadian Aerospace industry. On November 15-16, come join over 1,000 participants – primarily C-suite executives and government officials – in discussing possible avenues of collaboration and future growth.

Air&Cosmos Article

As part of Montréal Civil Aviation Week, we organized a visit by foreign journalists in order to introduce them to Québec’s aerospace cluster. Here is one of articles that appeared in the very prestigious European magazine Air&Cosmos.
