Hello all,
RECORD ATTENDANCE AT INTERNATIONAL AEROSPACE WEEK – MONTRÉAL 2018 In total, more than 3,000 people took part in the week’s activities, including Aéro Montréal’s Aerospace Innovation Forum, CRIAQ’s Rendez-vous Forum and our Vitrines 2018 career event.
FULL HOUSE AT THE WEEK’S SHOWCASE EVENT, THE AEROSPACE INNOVATION FORUM More than 1,000 representatives from the Canadian and international aerospace industry participated in the 6th edition of the Aerospace Innovation Forum. With the outstanding participation of nearly 90 international speakers, we discussed how disruptive technologies are influencing the aerospace industry in the way it conducts business, and how these disruptions will impact aerospace innovation in the future. Over two days, participants shared innovation best practices developed by the industry and networked during 1,500 B2B meetings. The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Mrs. Dominique Anglade, Québec Deputy Premier and Minister of the Economy, Science and Innovation, also delivered speeches to Forum participants. They emphasized the importance of innovation and the willingness of their respective ministries to continue supporting industry and SMEs in their innovation initiatives. Be sure to view the photos of the event.
VITRINES 2018 – MORE THAN 200 JOB OFFERS AVAILABLE ON SITE Nearly 1,000 young people answered the industry’s call. During a period of labour scarcity, the competition for workers is not only between companies in the same field but also between industrial sectors. There is a feverish race for talent and our role is to promote the benefits of an aerospace career in Montréal. The event was held in the presence of Mr. François Blais, Québec Minister of Employment and Social Solidarity, who noted that the 2018-2019 Budget set aside investments of over $800 million over the next five years related to the national workforce strategy, to be unveiled soon. The minister gave assurances that this strategy will propose concrete measures to support aerospace companies, as well as those throughout our economy who want to attract and retain workers.
AÉRO MONTRÉAL IS PARTICIPING IN A MISSION TO THE XPONENTIAL CONFERENCE AND TRADE SHOW The drones sector is booming and represents a new niche for our cluster. With this in mind, we have decided to take part in the XPonential Trade Show, which will take place in Denver from April 30th to May 3rd. This trade mission is being organized jointly with the UAS Centre of Excellence and the Québec Ministry of Economy, Science and Innovation. Our goal is to support Québec SMEs during this event and enable them to participate in a number of personalized B2B to develop business in this promising niche.
FUTURE FIGHTER JET REGIONAL FORUM (May 1, 2018 – Montréal – Bonaventure Hotel) Meet with Future Fighter Capability Project representatives and companies contending for this $15-20 billion contract! Projects of this size in aerospace come up only once in a generation. This is an opportunity not to be missed for Canadian companies. You will also be able to benefit from B2B meeting opportunities with the companies in contention (Boeing, Airbus, Dassault, Lockheed Martin, SAAB and some Tier 1 integrators). The open and transparent procurement process to replace the Canadian CF-18 fleet with 88 modern fighter jets is the largest single investment in the Royal Canadian Air Force in recent years. Canada is also seeking to generate significant economic benefits through its Industrial and Technological Benefits Policy.
MACH FAB 4.0 – LOOKING FOR JOINT INDUSTRY 4.0-TYPE PROJECTS The call for ideas for projects to be carried out jointly by companies is currently underway. You may submit your project ideas right now so that they can be evaluated by the program managers. For more information, please contact Martin-C. Boucher.
